Home Comforts
It’s not quite a Liverpool title race, without the drama, the fear, the elation, and the stress. The heightened emotions of last week’s Merseyside derby have somewhat subsided following a nervy, but much-needed, 2-1 home win over Wolves a few days ago. It wasn’t a vintage Liverpool performance, far from it. The away team were far and away the better side throughout the entire second half of the game. Liverpool looked extremely leggy towards the end. What matters though is the three points though and Arne Slot’s boys managed to secure that. But Liverpool fans would be lying if they didn’t feel some concern following the last two performances.

In my opinion, this is where putting things into perspective can be beneficial. Despite recent concerns, the title is very much in Liverpool’s hands. However, some factors will swing things in their favor when the home stretch arrives.
The Eye Of The Storm
There’s no doubt that Liverpool’s next three games are some of the toughest there is. We have away trips to Aston Villa and Manchester City, finished off by an Anfield clash against Newcastle United. All three opponents have the players to give the Reds problems on both ends of the pitch. It isn’t helped by some of the tired performances we’ve seen by Slot’s men to finish off the matches against Everton and Wolves.
The seven-point lead at the Premier League summit gives the Reds some margin for error, but anyone who’s followed the highest level of the sport for years on end knows the value of momentum and how it can shift any club’s season on a dime. Arne Slot’s men have only one Premier League defeat all season, and it’s February. If the Reds are to extend that streak after those three big games, then they will be in good stead for their Premier League title hunt, regardless of the point differential.
A Golden Sky
The good news for the worrying contingent of Liverpool fans is that, following the critical stretch away to Aston Villa and Manchester City, is that seven of Liverpool’s last 11 league matches are at Anfield. This is a massive factor, considering the Reds’ home record over roughly the last decade. This schedule serves as a noteworthy advantage in the run in. In addition, among these seven matches is a likely title decider with closest rivals Arsenal. Suffice it to say, the fixture being played at Anfield gives the Reds a massive boost, with the atmosphere during that game surely being one to savor.

For now, however, Liverpool can only look at what’s in front of their faces. What that is right now is an away trip to Villa Park, a venue where the Reds blew a two-goal lead to ensure that former gaffer Jurgen Klopp’s final away match as LFC manager ended in a stalemate. It’s not an easy trip by any means, and as mentioned earlier they have the players that can hurt us. But all Liverpool can do is put the blinders on and focus on what’s in front of them. Go get another three points. Do that, and it’s another positive step into what can be a very memorable season.
