The American Gerrard Transfer News and Rumors

“The name’s Gerrard, Jordan Gerrard,” also known as “The American Gerrard!” You know about the “Welsh Pirlo”, you’ve seen the “Egyptian Messi”, but you never knew about the American Gerrard! When the American Scouser needed a transfer expert I was there to smash it in from long range with an absolute belter. What a hit son, what a hit!

Here we are merely steps away from the promised lands. The Premier League has returned and Liverpool Football Club are only two wins away from ending a 30 year title drought. The team has performed to near perfection in the Premier League during this record breaking season. As ambitious fans many of us are already dreaming/plotting a future of Liverpool league domination. Will there be any new arrivals to accompany these ambitious dreams? Or will Liverpool spend another summer a sleeping giant in the transfer market?

Timo Transfer Saga comes to an End

I know we are all tired of Timo Talk. I feel like I haven’t had one article yet where he wasn’t mentioned. Hopefully we can put this one to bed with this article. Timo Werner or as I call him Schurrle 2.0, has finally finalized his move to Chelsea with an official announcement on Chelsea’s social media accounts. Many Liverpool fans are left to wonder what really happened and why Timo ended up at Chelsea instead of Liverpool.

Former teammate of Jurgen Klopp and now R.B. Leipzig Journalist Guido Schafer, has spoken to Timo Werner personally and sheds some much needed light on the transfer saga. Schafer indicated that Timo has the personality where he likes feeling like he is the main man at a club. Playing at Liverpool where he will often sit on the bench didn’t match Timo’s personal ambitions. In the end Chelsea could promise more first team opportunities as Liverpool’s front three were just too intimidating for Timo to compete with.

On a financial level Liverpool weren’t ready to cough up the entire release clause at once and wanted to make payments, Chelsea offered the full value in one lump sum. Additionally Schafer reports Frank Lampard made regular phone calls to Timo assuring him he was first choice and wanted at Chelsea.

Ryan Fraser Contract Rebel

News broke this week that Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser had rejected a short term contract extension to see out the remaining games of the season with Bournemouth. Bournemouth are currently fighting for survival sitting in the relegation zone. Fraser’s contract was due to end at the end of June. Eddie Howe, Bournemouth’s manager has responded by stating Ryan Fraser will not play another game for Bournemouth including the remaining games played during his current contract.

Rumors linking the rebel winger with the Reds have emerged. Could he be a capable replacement for an outgoing bench player like Shaqiri? Personally I don’t think Liverpool are interested in signing Ryan Fraser. His actions abandoning his relegation threatened team demonstrate to me he doesn’t have the personality Klopp would seek for his squad. Obviously he’s been tapped up or has some kind of move in mind. In the past he’s been linked with Arsenal.

Hendo Birthday Wishes

This week was filled with many Liverpool birthdays including club Captain Jordan Henderson. Some observant Liverpool fans were quick to notice a few curious birthday well wishers sending Hendo Birthday love, including one of Europe’s most wanted wingers, Borussia Dortmund’s English forward Jadon Sancho.

Most experts will point out they are most likely friends from playing together internationally for England, but desperate fans will say this is an obvious hint of an upcoming move. I answered this transfer rumor last week and my position hasn’t changed. I just don’t see this happening as Liverpool will be looking for bargain buys this summer.

Liverpool target wanted by Chelsea

Have Liverpool lost another one of their long term targets to Chelsea? German attacking midfielder Kai Havertz has added speculation on a move to Chelsea when he liked a fans comment requesting Chelsea’s official Twitter account to “Announce Havertz!” Rumors are indicated Chelsea are refusing to pay Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price of 100 million.

If Bayer Leverkusen fail to qualify for the Champions League, they may be forced to lower their asking price. Bayer Leverkusen currently sit in 5th place, two points behind 4th place Borussia M’Gladbach.

Kai Havertz is a known admirer of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos and could still strike a blow to Chelsea’s transfer plans by choosing to follow in his idol’s footsteps moving to either Madrid or Bayern Munich. Liverpool have been constantly linked with Kai Havertz but personally I don’t see this as a realistic transfer. Klopp may be just an admirer of his compatriot and not making any concrete plans to work with the player.

Jurgen’s Ominous message

Speaking to Sky Germany this week, Jurgen Klopp cast doubt on Liverpool spending big in the transfer window this summer. Klopp feels it would be morally irresponsible to sanction any mega money deals with the club currently impacted financially by the Covid19 pandemic. The long term ramifications on English Football are still unknown and Liverpool are unsure what the future will bring with the potential of all future games being played behind closed doors.

Only time will tell if any bonuses or prize money earned from winning the title will boost Liverpool’s budget. As the league restarts, new transfer rumors will emerge linking Liverpool with the new flavor of the week. Make sure you read my article next week as we go over the latest Liverpool Transfer rumors and news. I’m Jordan Gerrard and as always I thank you for reading!
