The American Gerrard Transfer News and Rumors

The name’s Gerrard, Jordan Gerrard,” also known as “The American Gerrard!” You know about the “Welsh Pirlo”, you’ve seen the “Egyptian Messi” but you never knew about the American Gerrard! When the American Scouser needed a transfer expert I was there to smash it in from long range with an absolute belter. What a hit son, what a hit! This week has been filled with a ton of new transfer rumors and I’ve got my Indiana Jones Fedora and a rusty machete ready to cut through the jungle of transfer bullshit and give my opinion on the likelihood of potential transfers. With Liverpool tightening their budget belts over Terrible Timo what can we make of some of these mega money signing rumors? Will this summer be an adventure into the Temple of Transfer Doom? We as fans want to believe that Liverpool have an ace up their sleeve. Jurgen Klopp has a master plan. Did we pass on Timo Werner for an even better signing or one of Jurgen’s bargain beauties. I’m always realistic but I’m going to try to be optimistic this week otherwise this would be a boring article. To start things off I wrote you all a little song enjoy.

So Liverpool was not… in Timo Werner’s heart. He’s going to Stamford Bridge… to play for Frank LampFart. LFC won’t pay 53… for someone who won’t start. But if you want a German deal… you go to Jurgen Mart. Let’s talk about Adama… the Wolverhampton winger. Will Harry Wilson quit the band… or be a backup singer? What about Lallana?… will he move on or will he linger? I don’t really want Coutinho… so I’m giving him the finger. If you’re asking how I write this stuff… it’s obviously not that hard. But those who know me personally… hold my words in high regard. And if you don’t like my articles… you’re getting a red card. For LFC transfer news… you better read the American Gerrard!

Recently Liverpool Leftback Andrew Robertson revealed he found Adama Traore to be a nightmare to cover while playing against Wolverhampton Wanders. Could Traore be the missing piece to complete an already perfect puzzle? Many unreliable sources ( THOSE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED!!!) are reporting Liverpool have already begun talks to sign Traore. Based on the origins of these stories I don’t find them to be realistic indication of an upcoming signing. Wolverhampton is believed to want upwards of 50 million for Traore. With Liverpool refusing to pay Timo Werner’s release clause I don’t see them buying Traore either. I do however think Adama Traore would be an ideal signing for Liverpool. Liverpool have many talented dribblers and speedsters already among their ranks but what they lack is a winger with the strength of Traore. Ever since the Sergio Butthole Ramos injury Mo Salah has appeared a bit reluctant to go shoulder to shoulder with defenders. I love Mo but he loses the ball a lot more compared to his first season when he lit the Premier League on fire. Anyone who has watched Traore knows once he gets the ball, going shoulder to shoulder is not enough you have to foul the guy, to get the ball from him. I think a player like Traore could come in when we face defenses that sit back and really make a difference. He would make an excellent backup. He has a few rough edges like his shooting ability but nothing Jurgen Klopp couldn’t improve longterm. The only real concern is his past injury record.

Harry Wilson has extended his contract with Bournemouth F.C. to see out the remaining games of the season and help get the team out of the relegation zone. Many Liverpool fans are wondering what the future beyond the end of this season has in store for young talent Harry Wilson. Will Harry Wilson get a chance to stake a claim as part of this exciting Liverpool generation or will he end up being sold or loaned out again? Most sources are reporting Harry Wilson will be sold if the right offer comes in. For me Harry’s future is all about what Harry wants for himself. Realistically he’s not going to pass Mo Salah or Sadio Mane in the pecking order. He might even be viewed in Klopp’s eyes as behind many others. Does Harry Wilson want to stay and fight for a place? Harry Wilson has done a decent job improving each season while out on loan. I think he deserves a chance to play backup at Liverpool. Harry currently has 7 goals while playing for struggling Bournemouth. That’s pretty impressive and actually better stats then some of our current backup players including Ox with 3 goals, and Keita and Shaqiri with 1 goal each. Roberto Firmino has one more goal then Wilson with 8 but does boast an impressive 8 assists compared to Wilson’s zero assists not to mention Firmino’s underrated contributions off the ball. I’m not saying replace Firmino with Wilson, far from it, I’m just saying Wilson might be a better option then some of our current backups. With Shaqiri most certain to leave Liverpool this summer, Liverpool have his potential replacement with out spending any money in the transfer window.

Adam Lallana has agreed a short contract extension to see out the rest of the Premier League season with Liverpool. As many of us know, Adam Lallana has come to the end of his contract with Liverpool and has indicated he would like to seek first team opportunities elsewhere. Lallana has had a career filled with ups and downs at Liverpool suffering many injuries that disrupted his progress at the club. When his contract is up he will not be short of potential suitors. Last summer Lallana was linked with a move back to Southampton, his former club. One stumbling block was believed to be Southampton being unable to pay Lallana’s wages. Brendan Rogers, the man who brought Lallana to Liverpool, now plies his trade at Leicester and has been credited with an interest in reuniting with Lallana. Ranger’s manager Steven Gerrard has also been linked with a move to bring Lallana to the Ibrox Stadium. Lallana could end up where he’s offered the best wages and most game time and I wouldn’t rule out a move away from the Premier League. I would love for him to come play in the MLS but he’s probably a few years away from a move like that, besides aging english midfielders don’t tend to do so well in the U.S. or so I’m told. I will update you when more info becomes available.

The lastest rumors about former Liverpool player now Traitor Phillipe Coutinho claim Barcelona are just desperate to be rid of the player and we might be crazy enough to buy. Like a tacky show in Vegas the little magician has waved his wand casting his magic and dropping his valuation from 140 million to a bargain 40 million. Barcelona are willing to accept a considerable loss on the player they paid Liverpool 140 million several seasons ago. Personally I don’t believe these latest rumors. I think Barca are prepared to hang on to Coutinho before accepting anything under 70 million. I think Coutinho might be short on confidence at this point and he might think it’s smart to hang on to high wages for as long as possible and sit on the bench at Barcelona. I really don’t think Liverpool are interested in Coutinho at any price. He doesn’t fit in with the current team and he burned too many bridges on the way out. It’s a no from me Dawg!

Stories came out this week from numerous sources claiming Virgil Van Dijk was preparing to accept a new contract from Liverpool F.C. that would make him the club’s highest paid player in the history of the club. I hope we will learn more about this in the coming days. Virgil Van Dijk more then deserves to be our highest paid player. Securing one of our most important players to a new long term contract would be a great bit of news after the Timo Fiasco. Virgil’s new wages are believed to be around 220,000 per week.

Sebastian Kehl, Borussia Dortmund’s Head of Licensed player’s has dismissed claims Liverpool are leading the chase for English Winger Jadon Sancho. Jadon Sancho is one of the most wanted players in Europe at the moment so there’s no doubt he would be linked with the current world champions. As much as I would love to see Liverpool sign Jadon Sancho, Dortmund are currently under no pressure to sell him. They could hold out and demand an enormous fee that would easily put Liverpool out of any bidding war. Sadly I think he’s considering a move to Manchester United. I think he’s waiting to see how United finish in the Premier league and will use any failure to qualify for the Champion’s league as leverage to get more money out of United’s pockets. I don’t think Liverpool will sign Jadon Sancho but I would love to be pleasantly surprised.

Every summer I always make a similar prediction about Liverpool’s transfer activity. Based on past season Klopp has a tendency to purchase players from the teams that get relegated to the Championship league. He has a gift for finding gems like Gini Wijnaldum, Andy Robertson and Xherdan Shaqiri. I think Klopp may follow this same path if money for spending is tight and pursue someone from a relegated team. Currently the team most likely to be relegated is Norwich City with the fewest amount of points in the league. Norwich have a few exciting young players like Todd Cantwell and Emilianio Buendia but I think Liverpool want a player who can play backup Leftback and may pursue a deal for Jamal Lewis. I read in the past Jurgen Klopp likes Jamal Lewis. He’s a pacey leftback with 4 assists in the Championship league last season and 1 goal in the Premier League this season. Jamal could come on the cheap. So this is not my ideal transfer but my predicted transfer for the summer assuming Norwich are relegated, but with nine games left anything is really still possible. Join me next time as we discuss more potential Ins and Outs for Liverpool F.C. I’m Jordan Gerrard and as always I thank you for reading!
