Friday at 3pm et, The Mighty Reds travel down the coast and the table, to take on Southampton. Liverpool are in second sitting on 79 pts, only one point off the pace. The Saints on the other hand, are on 33 points and only five points clear of relegation. The Reds will be relishing this opportunity to take on slightly less competition, as their next two matches see them oppose Porto and Chelsea.  The weather on the south coast will be in the low to mid fifties, with partly sunny skies. Perfect weather for Liverpool to use their skill and pace.

Injury News

The list of players out for ‘Pool is getting shorter by the day. After a slight knock against Spurs, Virgil was given the all clear. Rhian Brewster was mentioned as a candidate after coming back from his fifteen month layoff. He had a dream comeback match, netting two goals in his U-23 season debut. Shaq was a full participant in training all week and was given the green light by Jurgen to feature this weekend. Oxlade-Chamberlain was the only player ruled out with Klopp telling reporters that he is not quite ready for first team action.

Southampton will be without Mario Lemina (abdominal strain) or Michael Obafemi (Hamstring). Shane Long looks to be available though after battling a groin injury.

Previous Form

Liverpool’s previous five league results are as follows: W(2-1 Spurs). W(2-1 Ful). W(4-2 Bur). D(0-0 Eve). W(5-0 Wat). That is good for thirteen out of a possible fifteen points!

Southampton’s previous five league results are as follows: W(1-0 BHA). W(2-1 Spurs). L(2-3 Scum). W(2-0 Ful). L(0-2 ARS). Good for nine out of a possible fifteen points.

Lineup and Predictions.

Alisson will of course be in goal. The best young RB in the league (Trent), will pair with the best LB in Europe (Robbo) to control the flanks. In between them will be Big Virgil, and the always steady Joel Matip. Look for Fabinho to make his way back into the starting XI after the stellar weekend showing against Spurs. Gini and Hendo will join him to make up the middle three. However, don’t be surprised if Lallana, Naby, or Shaq get a run out with the dip in competition. The front three of course picks itself, with Mo, Bobby, and Sadio. I think the Reds burn the doors off the Saints and win 4-0. Mo will score at least twice and be involved in another goal to take home MOTM honors!
