Tis The Season To Be Haunted

Mo Salah continues to haunt his former team, Chelsea. The Egyptian King provided a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory this past Sunday. And in a season when hauntings, spooks, and terrors run rampant it is nice to see that Liverpool has mostly avoided what has felt like age-old curses for the Reds. Arne Slot has won 10 out of 11 to begin his reign at Anfield. This feat has been beaten only by Pep Guardiola’s perfect 10 out of 10 start to his tenure at City.

Moreover, the injury curse which has often depopulated the bench to young academy players, and zombified our ranks of first-team players has largely passed by us. We top the league and have won all our group matches so far in the expanded Champions League. I would say that this Halloween we have been more blessed than cursed. I’ll find some wood to knock on now.

Spooky Season On Merseyside

Seeing as it is a season of demons, ghouls, ghosts, and goblins I thought it would be fun to talk about Liverpool culturally outside of the realm in and around Anfield. Perusing through the internet I have tried to find the top Ghost stories of the town. So here is a quick, and short digital ghost tour of Ole Liverpool:

Four Games That Impact The Klopp Legacy

Speke Hall: A Haunted Tudor Mansion

Speke Hall, a stunning Tudor mansion, is believed to be haunted by several spirits. One of the most famous is the ghost of a Catholic priest who is said to haunt the Blue Room. Visitors have reported feeling uneasy in this particular room. Some have even claimed to have seen the shadowy figure of a man.

Another ghost who was said to haunt Speke Hall is a Victorian gardener. His spirit is believed to be responsible for the strange occurrences that have been reported in the gardens, such as the sudden appearance and disappearance of flowers.

Penny Lane: A Haunted Street

While Penny Lane is best known for its association with the Beatles, it also has a darker side. Number 44 Penny Lane is said to be haunted by at least two spirits. One of these spirits is believed to be malevolent and has been linked to several strange incidents that have occurred in the house.

Ye Hole in Ye Wall: A Haunted Pub

Liverpool’s oldest pub, Ye Hole in Ye Wall, is said to be home to several ghostly patrons. One of these ghosts is said to be particularly mischievous and is known to wreak havoc on unsuspecting drinkers. In addition, some have reported seeing glasses flying off shelves and hearing strange noises coming from the empty pub.

Sweeting Street: A Revengeful Ghost

Sweeting Street is said to be haunted by the ghost of Rose Poole, a woman whose husband stole her five golden rings from her corpse. Her restless spirit is said to wander the street, searching for revenge. Some people have reported seeing a shadowy figure walking along the street late at night. Others have claimed to have heard the sound of a woman crying.

Lime Street Station: A Faceless Figure

Lime Street Station is said to be haunted by the ghost of a tall, faceless figure that has been seen by several witnesses. Some have described the figure as being dressed in a long, dark coat, while others have said that it is completely transparent. The identity of the faceless figure remains a mystery, but many believe that it is the ghost of a traveler who met a tragic end at the station.

Hopefully these are the only haunts we will see this season and not have the specter of 2014 Demba Ba running through onto goal thanks to a slip by our mercurial captain, or the ghost of Gareth Bale and his overhead kick that sealed a devastating Champions League loss don’t find a welcome home among these streets.,
