Matchweek 35: Liverpool 2 – 0 Southampton – Player Ratings

It’s three points. But it felt unnecessarily difficult against a side that was fairly inviting.

RATINGS

Alisson– 9
Huge stop on Che Adams first half. Really was the difference when the game was on a knife’s edge. Probably deserves a 10 given the center back pairing.

TAA – 6
Mixed bag. Likely had a shorter leash going forward for good reason.

Nat Phillips – 7
What he lacks in natural pace and recovery speed he makes up in forehead. Solid all around performance.

Rhys Williams – 5
Did that thing a few times where he looks like a gangly training cone and gets caught ball watching. He’s a baby, but not convinced he’s ever going to fancy a high line.

Robbo – 6
Some decent combination work down the left. Likely given instructions to play it more conservatively given the pairing.

Fab – 7
Did a good job disrupting the deep incoming runs from he midfield. Had a 20 minute spell late second half where he really started orchestrating things going forward.

Thiago – 8
Klopp wasn’t entirely happy with his response in transition defense, but overall, did well going forward. Crucial goal to wrap the game up. Amazing what happens when you have a go.

Gini– 6
Defensively, a passenger at worst. Looked like he had his tail up and fresh legs going forward, at best. If it was Barca we’re playing, he definitely scores that header.

Salah – 6
He must have made some under-the-table side bet with Degsy that he can score 30 in a season without hitting a single first time shot.

Jota – 5
Does his best Mo impression where he slaloms through like 4 guys and misses a sitter. 6 goals without a game.

Sadio – 7
Good to see him on his bike early. Great finish and does well to force the turnover that led to the second goal.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Firmino – 6 (‘78)
DId a bunch of Bobby stuff, including picking up an assist.

Ox- 5 (‘86)
Did a bunch of Ox stuff that thankfully excluded getting hurt.

Curtis – N/A (90+2)
