Liverpool vs Chelsea Preview

Good day fellow Reds!!! Happy (belated) Thiago Day! Finally after weeks of speculation, the Thiago saga is finally over – on to the next rumor!

Overview

Back to the business at hand: Liverpool make the trek to London on Sunday to visit Chelsea FC. The match can be seen at 11:30 am EST on Peacock. The weather in London should be around 70 at kickoff with “Golden Skies.” It should be an entertaining match based on Lampard’s touchline theatrics the last time we played (Trophy Lift day)! A reminder for you, Frank – Jurgen has won more than one league. How many finals did you lose last season?   Here’s hoping he brings his blankie and a bottle Sunday.

What Lampard really said to Klopp on the touchline

Injuries

Liverpool
For Liverpool, the more things change the more they stay the same. Tsimikas out(Covid). Shaq out(muscle). Ox out with his knee still.

Chelsea
For the rent boys, the list is just a bit longer. Ben Chilwell doubtful with an ankle injury. Billy Glimour out with a knee. Pulisic doubtful with a Hamstring. New signings Hakim Ziyech out with a knee and Timo Werner probable after coming back from a dead leg.

Klopp’s Quote of the Week

When asked if we can expect to see Thiago in action this week, Klopp said:

“If they watch LFCTV this afternoon, he will train! You meant the match… we will see. I didn’t make the squad now for Sunday. We will see what we can do. I didn’t meet him now, we had only phone calls and exchanged messages. So, let’s have a look how he feels. Around a transfer like this the days are pretty busy with things you usually don’t do. If he looks alright, we will find the right place for him.”

I love the gaffer for shouting out LFCTV… now we have to work on him shouting out American Scouser

Lineup and Prediction

Alisson in net, hoping to improve on the three goals they gave up. Robbo at left back, hoping to improve on the three goals they give up. Virgil at CB, hoping to improve on the three goals they gave up. Matip starts ahead of Gomez here, hoping to improve on the three goals they gave up. Trent at RB, looking to improve on the three goals they gave up. Hendo holds down the midfield, along with Naby and Fabinho. I think Gini comes off the bench in the second half after we get a two-goal lead. And as always, the front three look to terrorize Chelsea’s defense, Sadio, Bobby, and Mo.

Man of the Match will be Sadio. As Robbo and Trent have their assist competition, I think this years sees Mo and Sadio in the same light competing for the Golden Boot. God help the Premier League if Sadio can replicate his season from last year, and Mo has a season similar to his first with LFC. Could we see two 30 goals scorers this year? I think we just might!

And Ay Yo Chelsea, we are up to Six European Cups and Nineteen Leagues, and you still ain’t got no history!
