Mad Mid Season
I’m not even sure there are proper words to describe the rollercoaster of the 2025-26 season thus far. Outside of the games versus Crystal Palace, the start of Slot Volume 2 looked a little rough for wear but golden.

Then it was like soccer had forsaken us. I don’t think I have experienced a darker period of time being a Reds fan. They dropped six league games. The club was ousted from the FA Cup. There were some pathetic showings in the Champions League. It all had me begging to wake up from a nightmare. Add a little dash of Salah publicly having a row over play time. It left me wondering if the holidays would be me gifting myself peace of mind by muting notifications and trying to pretend I really didn’t care about eleven men and a ball. Luckily, the rollercoaster had another hill to climb.
Embracing The Madness
The bleeding has stopped! Clean sheets are still tough to come by, and whatever the hell happened during the last seventeen minutes of the Spurs game at the weekend… let’s hope that was the last of that. But, at the end of the day, we are in fourth place, blemishes and all. A place I would have thought impossible just a month ago.

But of course, the mad mid-season ride still has some twists and turns. Isak broke his leg scoring the opener versus Spurs. That moment will have to go down as the bitterest of sweet. Salah is out at AFCON. The reunification and healing of that relationship will have to wait to be fully confirmed. There are still quite a few questions left to be answered before we can sign off on the first half of the season. Hopefully, when all is said and done, we’ll be able to raise a glass to a positive second half and not be trying to find the bottom of one.
