Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for season
We all knew it was bad yesterday when it happened, then when he didn’t get up, and then when he was taken off on a stretcher we knew it was likely not good news that was coming.
Even Jurgen Klopp said after the game yesterday that even though they didn’t know the extent of the injury that it was bad.
The full extent of the injury isn’t know at this time but he is definitely out for the rest of the Liverpool season and will miss this summers World Cup in Russia.
First of all my thoughts go out to Oxlade-Chamberlain, you have to feel awful for him. Every player dreams of playing in the Champions League final and playing in the World Cup. There is an excellent chance at this point that Liverpool will be in Kiev for the final, so you have to feel for him as a human that he’s going to miss out of completing both of those dreams.
It’s looked at as a 9 month injury although there are some rumors that it is maybe not as bad as first feared and he could be ready for the beginning of the season but I’ll warn you that’s pure speculation and would be surprised to see that happen but that news will come in the upcoming days and weeks.
This likely will change Liverpool’s plans for the summer as another starting midfielder is likely going to have to be signed.
For Liverpool who is on a magical run right now this is a huge blow. They’re already without Emre Can and Adam Lallana in the midfield so to lose Chamberlain this is leaving Jurgen Klopp with very few options as they try to compete on two fronts right now.
This has been such a magical run but it’s like everywhere we look right now an injury is happening and making it harder and harder at this point.
The depth was solid before the season but as one guy after the other goes down there is very little if any depth left.
I still love this teams chances of finishing in the top 4 and getting to Kiev for the final of the Champions League but with every injury to those goals get more difficult.
