Liverpool – Watford Preview – Timucin’s Take

Coming off a disappointing loss at Old Trafford, the Red try to get back on track. Under Klopp, Liverpool has never lost back to back games. I think this trend will continue but Liverpool has to be careful in the back to make sure Watford does not get an easy counter attack goal. For this reason alone, I think Gomez will start at RB. As much as seeing Trent benched after a poor performance hurts, I think it is the right move for this game.

This is a great opportunity for the Reds if they can secure the 3 points while all their other top tier competitors have no league games due to the FA Cup. Even if with a game on hand, the point difference between them and Chelsea will act as a demoralizing factor and ensure the top 4 finish.

• KEY TO THE GAME : An early goal for Liverpool will make this yet another easy home game. Watford defense is mediocre at best but they will sit and make Liverpool try to open them up. Reds have to be patient just like the Newcastle game and wait for the right opportunity to press Watford, a team notorious for their midfield turnovers.
• MY PROJECTED LINEUP : Karius, Gomes, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Emre Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino, Mane
• PREDICTION : Liverpool 3 – Watford 0 – Karius gets another clean sheet while Liverpool gets back to their winning ways.
